3.1 Their Planning for Teaching

My Cooperating Teacher first create a lesson plan where it contains the essence of learning, where she takes into consideration the year class indicators, and the learning objectives that she wants to meet at the end of the lesson. In the lesson plan, she plans for the workload and evaluation, especially the evaluation, tool, method, and criteria. She also plans for the learning management process (import into the lesson, learning activities, train students, apply, and summary), learning source, and integrated approach. She also prepares the power point presentations, interesting stories or trivia, pictures and video clips, activities and games, worksheets for pre-test, exercises and tests, and evaluation form.

3.2 Their Preparing Lessons and Materials

My Cooperating Teacher first read the topics that she is about to discuss. She exerts effort in understanding and reviewing the topics. She also prepare her power point for the discussion, the activities, and the devices she will use such as the microphone and projector.

3.3 Their Teaching in Class

In a generation where students learn more by doing and by immersion in fun activities, my Cooperating Teacher somehow managed to instill fun activities into her lesson. Through games, it motivated the students to become more active and to participate in the class discussion. Before the class discussion, my Cooperating Teacher first used a motivation in the form of a game or a pre-test that would test the prior knowledge of the students.

My Cooperating Teacher’s subject was History. Since she was assigned to teach Matthayom 2, she was tasked to teach Asian History. By the time we, the exchanged students, arrived at Satri Rachinutit School and by the time I first observed my Cooperating Teacher, she was already on Lesson 8 which focused on the “Development of Various Regions in Asia”.

During the Observation Week, my Cooperating Teacher conducted pre-test before the discussion. She informed me that it was to test the prior knowledge of the students. During the first week, I already started assisting my Cooperating Teacher in her power point presentation and in her activities for the students. I also helped her set up the projector and other devices.

In the discussion, my Cooperating Teacher always gave emphasize on the key essentials. She always focuses on the important details. She informed me that it is important to not overboard the students with text and information because they will not be able to absorb all the details. Too much text and information will make the students lose interest and focus. My Cooperating Teacher also used images during the discussion since the lesson was focused on Asian Geography. Through the projector, she showed the students maps in order for them to understand the discussion better.

3.4. Their Measurement and Evaluation

The Cooperating Teacher used 2 types of activities to measure and evaluate the students’ learning. The Cooperating Teacher administered preliminary test to assess how knowledgeable the students are about the topic. The Cooperating Teacher also conducted games before the discussion. The games were about Asian countries and regions.

3.5 My Overall Impression to the Teacher Performance

My Cooperating Teacher is an excellent teacher where she is able to prepare her lessons beforehand and concentrate on the most essential topics. She always take into consideration the thinking capacity of the students, although there are times where she fails to get the attention of the students. History is a subject that some students deemed as boring, in regard with this, the teacher should develop a strategy that would involve the students more in the learning process rather than spoon feeding them with content.
